Hecate was in the Greek mythologie (originating from Thrace, or among the Carians of Anatolia) the goddess of magic, ghost, and the crossings (especially of three ways), which here is laid out with stones as a three-way spiral. Hecate is embodying the aspects of the transitions birth and dead, and transformation. The Greeks have shown her as sculpture with three faces, looking to three directions.
